We had the pleasure to work for the legendary software synthesizer programmer Urs Heckmann on a showcase of the Zebra Legacy synth. The Zebra is a workhorse synthesizer used my multiple well-known composers such as Hans Zimmer.

In our film the zebra synth emerges out of a thick layer of sand. The sand falls and reveals the elements slowly.

The art direction is a homage to Dune Part 2. We created landscapes based on key scenes of Dune 2. The compactor was the first eye catcher which resonates the sand around it. The lighting focuses on it, the background plays with darker colors and shadows. The color grading emulates the so-called bleach bypassed look often used with analogue films, which increases the contrast while decreasing the saturation in the very bright and dark areas.

In the detail shots of the sand, we simulated thousands of sand grain particles resonating and falling to reveal the synth.
